Motivated to Live a Godly Life

"For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us that , denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age..."

Titus 2:11-12

God's merciful kindness is displayed through His grace towards us.  While we were still sinners, Jesus suffered and died for our sin so that we may have eternal life.  Jesus is the very picture of God's grace towards us.

Charles Spurgeon said, "Oh Jesus, despised and rejected, how could You die for people who treated You so badly?  This is love amazing, love divine; yes this is love beyond degree."

God's grace teaches us how to live.  God's spirit living in us enables us to resist ungodliness and worldy lusts.  And even more so, God's grace and love helps us to live a temperate, honest, and godly life.

Legalism never motivates people to do what is right.  A husband and wife are not motivated to love and serve one another through fear or a sense of duty.  No, it is through their love for one another that they are motivated to serve each other and do what is best for their mate.  Also, a child is never motivated to obey his parents through intimidation and anger.  However, a child will listen to the loving care and discipline of a nurturing parent.

We do not have the power or ability to live godly lives on our volition.  it is only through our understanding of God's grace towards us that we are able to live godly lives.  Love is the great motivator in living right before God and people.  When we understand that God loves us-we in turn fall in love with Him.  Brothers and sisters, it is love that motivates us to do what is right!

Do you love Jesus Christ?  Does His grace and goodness make your life real and give you the strength to endure?  Are you denying ungodliness and worldly lusts?  Do you long for God's reappearing-to see Him face to face?

"The love of God toward you is like the Amazon River flowing down to the water a single daisy"
F.B. Meyer

Let us live for God for He first loved us!!
