New Generation

One of the saddest commentaries on the spiritual life of Israel can be found in Judges 2:10 which points out that a generation arose that did not know the LORD nor the work He had done for Israel. As a veteran of the Jesus Revolution, it pains me to think of how ineffective many of us have been in communicating our faith to the next generation, and it seems to me that the Lord would have us redouble our efforts at winning the young to Jesus.
The overwhelming majority of people between 18-35 have no concept of what truth is, if there is such a thing, its origin, or if anybody has any authority to even say that they have it! There is such a lack of respect for pastors and bible teachers! A recent poll concluded that the most trusted professional is a nurse, followed by pharmacists, veterinarians, followed by medical doctors and kindergarten teachers: clergy members came in sixth! Think about it, people trust their nurses more than they trust a pastor. How did this happen? Sadly, some pastors have done terrible things, and the public has come to mistrust the profession as a whole. Heap on this teachers who are antagonistic towards the bible and a lack of respect for things holy, and it is easy to see how people would misunderstand us and our message.
Change has got to come, real change, and I pray that the Lord will reach us all in such a way as to compel us to live our lives more deeply committed to him. I am also praying for a new Movement, and with this in mind on the 28th of this month, I will have Ryan Ries share for a few minutes on Sunday morning about an upcoming outreach called the Whosoever Tour. Ryan and many young believers want a new Revolution, and I think God can use him and some of his friends to stir us up. Bring some young people to church on Sunday the 28th, and let's see what happens!

Amen Pastor Dave! I have heard Ryan's testimony and it is raw and powerful. I also pray many people will come out on the 28th to hear him and Sonny and of course you. It is amazing that God doesn't just fix our problems, HE makes them our ministry. You will hear that on the 28th. Give them as much time possible. :)

God Bless, David

Hi Pastor,
I think that where we may have failed is in equipping and exhorting parents to raise their children "in the way they should go". As I read the OT, and as you yourself have taught me, God places the brunt of the responsibility on "us" as parents, to model, teach, an discipline our kids in order to straighten out the bent that they have towards evil. I can think of a multitude of areas where "churchgoers" are way too liberal and too lenient in the way they raise their children and I think that is why we now have a generation that has no fear of consequences and no fear of God, which is the beginning of wisdom (Prov 1:7). God bless you.

Pastor Dave,
I am truly thankful for the Calvary Chapel movement that remains true to the LORD, and He is perfecting His message definitely within Calvary Chapel as well as many others...I agree we need the heroes of the Gospel to return in full power and strength by HIS SPIRIT and HIS WORD...thank God, truly you have maintain a consistency overtime that has produced a genuine harvest within Calvary Chapel Chino Valley...yes these are the Last Days, and there are many true promises that the LORD will always be triumphant and victorious in every age...He conquered Judaism, Romans, Greeks, Egyptians, Eastern Mysticism, the grave, hell and Satan, and He can certainly conquer in His Love this generation...Rafael

Pastor David,

I hear what you are saying. I was actually convicted by the Spirit as I read Revelation and about the church of the Laodecians. They were luke warm.

And as many as the Lord loves, He rubukes and chastens, Therefore, Jesus said to be zealous and repent. I know that the Lord wants our generation to know Him, and I also believe that he wants us who are already saved to be the fishers and the laborers. I am praying hard for this "I" generation. I long to see the kids my age and younger, come to Jesus.

I was SO blessed by the Whosoevers and their vision for the youth of the nation. They challenged me to PRAY HARD. The effective Fervrent prayer of a rightous man avails much.

Thanks Pastor,
For caring for the Youth.
